Matlosana”Klerksdorp”: The national tour of Lebo Sekgobela’s third studio album titled “Restored Live” finally made its stop in the city on Sunday the 20th of August at the Klerksdorp Auditorium Hall. The anticipated event attracted fans from all across the province. Sekgobela has been touring from city to city to thank her fans for the support received on her latest album.
A week before the concert i had a chat with Mr Thabang Rangakile who organised the Klerksdorp “Restored Live” tour. We spoke about Lebo’s performance on stage, he made it clear to me that the Multiplatinum album selling artist’s voice is more powerful when she sings live.
On Saturday night the singer had dinner with her fans at Karamba GrillHouse at Rio Casino and gave away CDs and DVDs. when she arrived at the dinner she had been to a radio interview at Aganang FM in potch. She greeted everyone with a smile and apologized for being late, she was in the company of her husband and manager Mr Sekgobela.
By Sunday afternoon fans lined up outside the entrance of the auditorium hall eager to get in and watch her electrifying performance. The live band was busy rehearsing on stage. StarFm’s Nthabiseng Mkwanazi hosted the show as an MC, Local gospel singer Thabo Mokuane opened the concert for Sekgobela.
Her immediate entrance on stage had everybody standing up. She greeted and welcomed everyone. “I recalled what Mr Rangakile told me and sure enough her presence gave a preview of what was to become of the night. A poised and down to earth Sekgobela’s tone when she speaks, makes one wonder where this powerful voice she has comes from. the concert was more than a musical experience but a spiritual worship and at times a conversation about life and the word of god with everyone at the concert.
The Lion of Judah hit maker asked worship groups to join her on stage and recalled performing in Klerksdorp back in 2013 and said! “I was in this city 3 years ago and I left with a song, I’m back in 2017 and I’m leaving with another song” Lebo said” This place referring to the municipal building” is situated at the centre of the city and it is were people meet. She continued by saying “This place needs spiritual worship, i said it in 2013 and no one took me serious, I’m saying it again, Sekgobela urged Klerksdorp’s worship groups to have a spiritual worship at the auditorium hall.
The concert reached epic moments when she performed songs with fans on stage and they sang every song perfectly.
Lion of Judah, Theko ya lona and many other songs from the album had everyone singing and dancing. After the concert Lebo gave away CDs, DVDs to fans and took selfies with together with them. Sekgobela promised to come back to the city again.
