Potchefstroom: As the festive season approaches, preparations are underway to bring us the hottest parties and get togethers we can ever imagine, Tlokwe”Potchefstroom” has become one of the cities to bring the A-list celebrities and artists to it’s shores.
The GKLM Events Group is now synonymous with events and the party culture of the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District, they held a press conference on Tuesday the 3rd of October to launch two of their coveted annual events which begin with The 3rd Annual Cheers Closing Party on the 2nd of December and The 4th Annual Tlokwe Chillaz Family Picnic on the 1st of January 2018.
The Cheers Closing Party is for organizations and individuals who work throughout the year and celebrates their successes and achievements in the workplace, this event entails Sports, Music, Fashion, Dance, Beer and Culture to draw tourists, locals, business, youth, community, organisations, media and visitors from all over North West on an annual basis to celebrate the community’s richness, diversity, dynamism and heritage.
The two events were launched at Devine Café, Katlego Centre, Ikageng Potchefstroom, the invites were extended to members of the Media, Artists, Event Ambassadors, and Distinguished Guests. Tuks Letlojane the programme director welcomed the event’s media partners and service providers who were present, organizations arrived from different designations of work and area.
One such crew was the Rhythm City Cast members Bongani, Mapula, Palesa, Sindiswa and Tool kid who are now part of the GKLM’s CSI “Corporate Social Investment” projects whereby five targeted areas have been identified as a way of giving back to the communities of Potchefstroom, Ventersdorp and Makwassie these are the Blanket Drive, Nelson Mandela Day, Sanitary-Towels to school girls and School Uniform to students. The group intends to spread their outreach to neighbouring cities soon.
Bongani of Rhythm City introduced his cast members to the guests and members of the media and told a story of how the partnership with GKLM began. “I was at a restaurant in Joburg and they approached me and told me about this idea and asked if it’s possible to sell it to my fellow cast members, I went back with this proposal to Rhythm City and spoke about it to the actors I managed to convince a few of them, and we have been part of the Cheers Closing Party ever since. David Genaro will also be present at the event.
This year only GKLM Events Group has invested R150 000 back to the community, with a donation of sanitary pads to school girls, giving groceries and blankets to the elderly, giving away school uniform and supporting other initiatives around the community.
It is expected that around 20 000 people will attend next year’s Tlokwe Chillaz Family Picnic, as always the safety of patrons is a priority to us and MEG Securities will again be on board to ensure that things go as planned.
Two artists have already been revealed for the two events respectively, The Cheers Closing party will see the likes of Amanda Black on stage, Vusi Nova is one of the main acts to brace the Tlokwe Chillaz on the 1st of January 2018 amongst others are Phiri and R&B and Soul DJ Thabo Pelesane, tickets for both events are available at selected retail stores like Jet Mart, Edgars, Choppies and many others.
