Matlosana”Klerksdorp”: For a while now or can we say it is a common trend that in Matlosana most Promoters, Clubs, Pubs and Lounges prioritize established and well known artists from Johannesburg instead of giving our artists in the city an equal opportunity to shine and showcase their talents in their home ground, to make matters worse these entertainment promoters and pots are not willing to pay our musicians but are quick to pop out huge amounts of money to these established artists from Joburg.

Matlosana has not been hosting big events in recent years this has resulted in a very difficult situation for many artists and the arts industry in the city. many have been demoralized by this, whilst others have moved out of the city in search of a better platform to display their talents and achieve their dreams.

One npo is steadily changing this challenge. “MACEF” Matlosana Arts & Cultural Exchange Festival is creating a space for artists in the city to get the recognition they deserve through an array of events that begin on the month of September, some of these events include the Heritage Day celebrations, LGBTI March, Educational Tour, Disability Fashion Show, Artists and Filmmakers workshop, Galla Dinner, Miss Macef ambassador competition, and Fashion Show.

There are three more shows left for Macef which kick off on the 3rd of November to the 5th of November. This will be followed a gospel show at Stilfontien’s spirit word church, the Heart of Worship season 1 praise and worship featuring Dr Tumi, Bheki Jali, Thobekile, Denzil Erasmus, Annieta Bok, and Joey Mofoleng. Nokwethemba Poet of Joyous Celebrations will be the MC of the event.

The shows will close off with a Jazz Festival called “Treasure Route” at Brazil Stadium, Jouberton on the 5th featuring the Soul and R&B Dj Thabo Pelesane, Tebogo Inkani Motsieloa of North West FM, Thabo Khechane.
