Four of the deceased family members

Jouberton: Just six days into the new year one family in Jouberton, Matlosana”Klerksdorp” is still trying to come to terms with the unfortunate passing of their loved ones this passed weekend in Litchtenburg, a horrible accident which claimed seven lives happend in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The news of this terrible accident shocked the people of Matlosana and many expressed their heart felt condolences to the family through social media. The distraught “Mvala” family welcomed us on Tuesday 08 January 2018 and we sat down with the family spokesperson Mr Isaiah Mvala who was evidently in a stressful and traumatic state of despair. Mvala went into detail about what had exactly occured in this unfortunate incident.
According to Mr Isaiah Mvala the deceased had gone to a 21st birthday party of their cousin in Mahikeng on the 6th of January 2018 in a Toyota Quantum taxi. it is said that they took off at about 04:30 in the morning coming back home from Mahikeng heading to “Klerksdorp” and when they were just 5Kms away from Litchtenburg at around 05:15 a strange animal tried to pass the road which prompted the driver to attempt and swerve the wild animal, this caused the driver to lose control of the taxi which was carrying a trailer and many say it is a contributing factor to the minibus taxi capsizing and leaving 7 of the Mvala family dead and 7 others injured with minor and serious injuries.
It was later discovered that the strange animal was the “Honey Badger” which was hit by the taxi and was found dead a few metres away from where the accident occured. In total 6 of the deceased are kids and were still in school. Mr Isaiah Mvala says this has left them devastated and speechless “What has happend to my family is very painful i can not expalin how i feel now, we are going through a difficult time, we never saw this coming” Mr Isaiah Mvala lost her daughter Nonceba “Mvala” Mgogolo (13) in this accident, Julia “Mvala” Setlhabi (39) passed away with her three children Karabo Setlhabi (8), Lebogang Setlhabi (15), and Boingotlo Setlhabi (17). Julia Mvala’s older sister also lost her daughter Ntombizanele Mvala (16) and the youngest to victim who also lost her life is Nonhlanhla Mvala who is the daughter of Masesi Mvala. Chris Mvala and Thomas Mvala (The Driver) have been discharged from the hospital and to date two is in Klerksdorp Hospital, and two in Tshepong Hospital. A 14 month old baby boy Quinton Senatle survived the horrible accident with his mother Mathapelo Senatle who is still in Ancron Private Hospital.
The City of Matlosana officials, MMC Lefa Ntaba, MMC Montoedi, MMC M. Mojaki, Assistant Director Masibi and Wesley Kgang from The Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality were present to show support to the grieving family, Maklera Magazine was told that the municipality will assist with the funeral arrangements for Saturday. The “Mvalas” are well known within the long distance taxi association industry of Klerksdorp.
The funeral service of the deceased will be held this Saturday at Brazil Stadium in Jouberton, the service will begin at 06:00 am proceed to the old cemetery in Ext 19.
