EMPOWERING OTHERS THROUGH SOCIAL EDUCATION
Lu_Onthought Book Club
Influencing mindsets~Changing attitudes
“Evolution of consciousness”. This was the theme topic under discussion through a thought provoking book review hosted by Lu_Onthought Book Club on 24 Feb 2018. The review was based on the book title: Missbehave by author Malebo Sephodi. This is a book that highlights issues such as patriarchy and challenging social norms to become who you are really intended to be instead of fitting into marginalized boxes of societal standards and confinements. It encourages deep levels of self-awareness.
“EMPOWERING WOMEN SHOULD BE A PLATFORM OF INTERACTING & NETWORKING WITH A DIVERSE AUDIENCE RANGING FROM AVERAGE WOMEN, TO LOWER SOCIAL CLASS FEMALES.”
Someone wrote “In South Africa when a successful woman says she is empowering other women it is a typical forum made up of only successful women showcasing their eloquence and status to each other on stages and podiums & ghaller dinners leaving out an ordinary woman from the dialogue. A true leader creates a platform of inclusiveness. Empowering others so that they can realize their value and purpose in life and find form of releasing that power within to live to their full potential that is one of the objectives of Lu_Onthought. We live up to our values and one of our values is “Value”. Role playing affords others a chance to explore their abilities and this is a platform that we open to the youth to take part in our activities. Koketso Matlanye who is a mentor and member of Lu_Onthought was afforded an opportunity to lead the book review for the month of February.
Not only does Lu_Onthought care for their own but through incorporation of other creatives in our space and activities where we saw a young talented guitarist “Latifah” perform and creating an ambiance. We also had Tebogo “Sushi” Selebalo serenading our audience with poetry.
