Nehawu embarks on a National shut down

Matlosana”Klerksdorp”:The National Education and Health Workers Union is still continuing with its protest actions in hospitals and clinics across the province.

The union says on the 17th of May it will be a total shut down as they will be heading to Mahikeng, The North West Province’s capital city to hand over a memorandum of demands to the interministerial committee.

According to Sello Hlatswayo the union is going to its national strike on 17 May and the North West Province will be joined by eight other provinces when they hand over the memorandum to the interministerial committee and the committee will be given only two days to respond to the memorandum.

“When we asked about the interns working in hospitals “he said! “Everyone who is a member of Nehawu will be participating in the mass action“.

Some of the 21 demands the union is asking for are; The scrapping of private companies out public hospitals and clinics, these include Marang, Nceda Security and Buthelezi EMS. Nehawu says it demands all contracted employees to be employed permanently into all government hospitals ans clinics.
