Jouberton: Edward Base is a pastry chef from Bloemfontien who moved to Klerksdorp in 2016. The chef was a human resources student at Motheo FET College. He dropped-out of tertiary to do what resonates with his heart which is cooking. He then later enrolled at The Joburg School of Baking with a specialisation in pastry.
Currently his busy trying to build a new clientele in Klerksdorp which he admits its not easy. “I usually work with clients according to their budget, and says most clients want dishes they can’t afford”
His passion also drives him to play around with ideas when he cooks. As a chef he says, you have to be able to cook ingredients with versatility. “A client can give ingredients and say to me cook, i promise you i can make a dish that will have you asking for more”
Here is a dish he prepared for us when we paid him a visit to his home.

Samp, Cheese Sauce,Carrots,Butter, Cream and two Gloves of Garlic.
Beetroot, Maizena, Butter,Apple Cider.
Pumpkin, Caramel, Sugar and Butter.
Desert: Lemon and Caramel Pudding.
