The 1st ever VTSD Arts&Culture Awards held in Matlosana

Matlosana”Klerksdorp”:The City of Matlosana has always been a pioneering city throughout its history. From hosting International Investors Conferences, Soccer matches, and music festivals, Maklera does rise to the occasion when there’s a calling. The city played host to the first ever VTSD Arts&Culture Awards on 20 July 2018 at The City Council’s Banquet Hall.

The prestigious awards show was organised by The Department of Cultural Arts and Traditional Affairs in the North West Province, in partnership with RISA  the Recording Industry of South Africa. The awards objective is to honour and celebrate the province’s Arts and Culture industry.

North West has produced some of the biggest stars in the country in the past and even currently. The ceremony was hosted by Actress and Singer Keabetswe “KB” Motsilenyane with Philanthropist Thabo Pelesane of the TP Foundation.

The Red Carpet event saw dignitaries from around the province grace the city dressed up in style, In what looked like the SAMA Awards, Showtime Entertainment transformed the Banquet Hall to ensure that it lives up to a standard of RISA’s SAMA Awards show which is held annually at Suncity in Rustenburg.

“CATA” was represented by Shuping Sebolocwe who expressed her pride at the department for embarking on such an apex initiative to host an award ceremony to honour and celebrate the talent of the province and its legends.

Also present was Retsebilwe Dolamo from RISA she shared a bit about how the partnership to organize and host the awards came about.

MEC Ontlametse Mochware said!…”To all the artists of North West, you must not undermine yourselves, because you can reach new and higher heights and government is there to support you all the way, come closer to us, we will stretch our hands of support come closer to us so that we can realise our dreams together

  1. Great story indeed, inspiring! Would love to see the addition of Culture Tourists Guides as they are interlinked with Museums and Heritage spaces, particular Cultural Museums. There is no museum without a Guide.
