Jouberton:The community of Ext 10 West have established an aerobics club, the brainchild behind the healthy lifestyle club is “Naledi Nanyane and Nkosinathi Boy Maye”.
The two decided to wake up in the morning and do a routine work-out, after a few days they recruited other members of the community and in particular the elderly and the youth.
The daily morning exercises have been taking place for the past three weeks and already the aerobics club has attracted over twenty club members.
Nkosinathi Maye says “The reason we involved the elderly is because we want to create a bond between the youth and senior citizens, we as young people can learn a lot from the elders, and the same applies to them”.
The aerobics club is one part of the bigger ideas that are in store for the community of Ext 10, there are plans to add an afternoon study group to assist students with homeworks and studying.
With an extensive experience in the arts and culture sphere. “Nkosinathi Maye who once appeared as a dancer on Dj Ganyani’s music video for the 2013 hit song “Xigubu” says they are looking for a suitable place to use for various arts and cultural activities like drama, dance and music.
This came as a result of seeing a lot of young people loitering around after school, these young people hang-out around corners and often times end up joining gangs.
