Johannesburg – The Department of Health has given the green light to 60 mobile vehicles that will be traveling across the country to sample and test citizens for the Convid-19 virus, especially in areas which have been declared hotspots.

Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize made a call for people to get tested in order for the department get a clear picture of the spread of the virus in the country.

Citizens will be screened, tested and traced by the 10 000 field workers as announced by the president, the field workers will visit villages, rural areas, cities and towns.

Those with symptoms will be referred to local clinics for testing, people with moderate symptoms will remain at home in isolation or be transferred to a facility provided by government – while those with severe symptoms will be transferred to hospitals.

“Our testing criteria is reactive and restrictive. This means we don’t have a true picture of Covid-19 cases, 45 000 tests, this is too low… given the size of our population said the minister”.
