“Matlosana Community Games established”

Stilfontien:For a long time Matlosana has seen a decline in sports and sporting events and in contrast to this, the infrastructure for Sports and Recreation are in a bad condition, including abondoned sports facilities and projects, particularly in Khuma, Jouberton and other parts of Matlosana.

However all hope is not lost, this is after a few legends and visionaries came together in an attempt to resasitate sports in Matlosana.
This project is the brainchild of Dr Lucky Thamsanqa Madikane, the Dr saw it fitting to invite former soccer legends and those who are currently playing professionally, like Dino Ndlovu who is more than will to pull his weight behind the games, The delegation was honored by former soccer legends from Alabama, Jouberton, Khuma, and Kanana who played professionally, as well as internationally and for the national team.

Dr Lucky Thamsanqa Madikane, Eric September, Brandon Silent, Gesond Vilakazi, Brian Sebapole, Gert Schalkwyk, Junior Mkhentane, Simanga Moses, Dino Ndlovu and Collin Mamabolo of Stilfontien Real Hearts were locked down in a 4 hour meeting to discuss the birth of the Matlosana Community Games.

Madikane told the legends that “We all have the same vision and we actually doing the same thing, but individually, so I think it’s time to come together and do one big thing”.

Our side talk with Brian Sebapole gave us an insight on the impact that Matlosana and Dr Kenneth Kaunda District! Sebapole said! “The Dr Kenneth Kaunda District is a power house, this is the only district that has produced more professional soccer players than any other in South Africa”.

The games are set to take place in December, with a soccer and netball tournament to launch the games, other sporting codes are going to be incorporated into the games which will accommodate teams from across the province.

Each township in Matlosana is expected to bring two teams per township for the december tournament, teams from Randfontien, Welkom and Wolmaransstad are also expected to take part in the games with a total of 16 soccer teams expected take part in the 2019 December tournament.
